A LOCAL solicitors’ firm has helped facilitate over £2.5million worth of donations through the Cancer Research UK’s Free Will Service in the past 10 years.

Berry & Lamberts Solicitors received a Certificate of Appreciation Gold Award from Cancer Research UK for its work. The law firm offers the Cancer Research UK Free Will Service to people aged 18 and over in the West Kent area.

Berry & Lamberts partner Dhruva Patel said: “We’re honoured to have been recognised by Cancer Research UK in this way. Many of us at the firm have friends or family who have been affected by cancer.”

As head of the firm’s private client practice, Ms Patel said her department had ‘facilitated over £2.5 million worth of legacy gifts’. Gifts in wills fund over a third of the charity’s research.

Cancer Research UK has played a role in developing eight out the world’s top ten cancer drugs, helped to prove the link between tobacco and cancer, and was a key player in the development of radiotherapy.
