Dino Live draws in shoppers

THE dinosaur display at the Royal Victoria Place in Tunbridge Wells has proved a resounding success, helping to boost footfall by ten per cent within its first week.

Running throughout August, the exhibition consists of a series of scenes located throughout the shopping centre where the dinosaurs are displayed in environments replicating their natural habitat over the course of 250million years.

Displaying the life size dinosaurs – including a Ceratosaurus, Iguanodon, the aptly named Kentrosaurus and the fearsome Tyrannosaurus Rex – has helped draw 175,000 shoppers to the centre, a like-for-like increase of ten per cent on the same period last year.

Marc Burchett, Marketing Manager of Royal Victoria Place said: “Dino Live has proved to be a big hit during its opening week and has really exceeded our expectations.

“We have seen not only local families come to see the event but also visitors from across the South East region. The dinosaurs are certainly proving to be very popular and it’s great to see the smiles on the faces of everyone that sees them.”

Karen Pengelly, Royal Tunbridge Wells Town Centre Manager said towns have to ‘work hard’ to attract visitors, adding: “It’s great to see that Royal Victoria Place are staging such a high profile and engaging event through the all-important summer holiday period.”
