Jonathan Neame was recognised by The Caterer magazine

Hospitality guru Jonathan Neame has been named one of the most powerful people in the industry by The Caterer magazine.

The aficionado is well known across the county as Chairman of tourist board Visit Kent and Chief Executive of Faversham-based Shepherd Neame Brewery.

The Caterer named Mr Neame at 16 in their list of the 100 Most Powerful Players in the Hospitality Industry, in a publication last week.

Last year he was ranked at 71.

He was also named as the fourth Most Powerful Pub & Bar Operator with Shepherd Neame operating 327 outlets across the UK.

Sandra Matthews-Marsh, Visit Kent Chief Executive said: ‘It was wonderful to see Jonathan Neame recognised as one of the most influential figures in the sector.

‘Jonathan not only runs a highly successful brewing, hospitality and tourism business, but is also a leading figure in our destination management organisation.

‘The impact of Shepherd Neame on the tourism landscape in Kent over the last decade has been significant, with a transformation in pubs and hotels in every corner of the county.
