The south east business, with an office in Lonsdale Gardens, Tunbridge Wells, made the appointment earlier this month.

Their previous Chief Executive Simon Slater left the company in September last year to join London counterpart Pemberton Greenish.

Ms Henwood was previously Director of Marketing and Business Development at Hong Kong-based Shearman & Sterling. She has 25-years industry experience and has worked all over the world for other firms, including Clifford Chance, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Linklaters.

Thomson Snell & Passmore said Ms Henwood will work closely with Senior Partner James Partridge to secure further sustainable growth during an important period of development, with their 450th anniversary and a major Tunbridge Wells office move on the horizon.

She said: “I look forward to embracing the new challenges ahead as I step into the role of CEO of the oldest law firm in operation in the world.

“With the 450th anniversary approaching, I will be working closely with the Board, Partners and other members of the firm, to build on the firm’s rich heritage and performance to ensure continued growth and success, especially as we draw closer to celebrating an important milestone.”
