Southeastern hails ‘success’ of new timetables

Improvement to train delay claims while franchise award drags on

The new rail timetable launched by Southeastern has been hailed as a ‘success’ by the firm.

In the 48 hours after the changes from Sunday [May 20] the franchise holder reported 93 per cent of trains arrived within five minutes of their scheduled arrival.

Southeastern also said 74 per cent of trains arrived within one minute of their scheduled arrival.

West Kent commuters felt only minor changes with the bulk of the changes affecting passengers from the other side of the county.

Ellie Burrows, Train Services Director, said: ‘For the vast majority of our passengers, the new services mean more choice and better journeys.’

‘Importantly, these changes will allow us to better support the local businesses and communities across London, Kent and East Sussex which depend on the railway to connect them to trade, tourism and staff, while also supporting the broader regional economy by enabling more people to travel on the network.’
